おもえる【思える】

1 〔考えられる･認識される･感じられる〕 it seems (to me) that…; it strikes me that….

●イルカは人間以上に賢い動物のように思える. Dolphins seem like [It strikes me that dolphins are] more intelligent beings than humans.

・あなたは自分に自信がないように私には思える. You seem to [It seems to me that you, It strikes me that you] lack confidence in yourself.

・私には彼が偉い人のように思えたのだ. He impressed me as a great man.

・あの人は私の本当の父みたいに思える. I feel toward him as if he were my father.

・そのときの彼女の行動は, 私にはきわめて怪しいものに思えた. Her behavior at the time struck me as highly suspicious.

・自分が惨めに思えてならない. I can't help feeling sorry for myself.

・そんな説明で相手が納得するとは思えない. Such an explanation can hardly be expected to convince anyone.

・10 年前はこんなにパソコンが一般家庭に普及するとは思えなかった. Ten years ago no one would have thought that personal computers would become so popular.
